Leanne Terry and Katie Clarke, Clic HQ

Clic HQ is an accountancy for small businesses, run by Leanne Terry and Katie Clarke almost entirely online from a hub in Sevenoaks.

We filmed and photographed the two of them for a day in September 2024, together and on their own, and over the next four weeks I sent them 21 clips, both of their full interviews and a set of outtakes.

Where they started

In 2020 I was on a panel Clic put together about diversity in small business, and in the summer of 2024 Donna, who looked after their marketing, asked me to film Leanne and Katie.

I wrote to them about the two ways we could film.

I said that if they already had an audience who liked hearing from them, a relaxed conversation between the two of them would be okay, and that if they wanted to win over people who didn't know them yet, it would be good to have some of it looking straight down the lens.

So we filmed both.

What working with us involved

  1. Strategy

Ahead of our planning call I watched the reference videos Katie had sent me, and I asked them to think about where the films would live, whether that was on their website or at the top of their LinkedIn profiles.

    Call on 6 September 2024

  2. On-camera coaching

I told them it wouldn't have to be stuffy or rehearsed, and I suggested a few ways of filming that might feel natural, like chatting while they walked around, telling stories over a cup of tea or interviewing each other. On the day we filmed them in conversation and then interviewed each of them.

  3. Photography

Jamarl spent the day photographing them while I filmed, and the photos went to them nine days later.

608 frames on the day, 53 in our library

  4. Editing

The first cuts had both of them on screen in rounded frames, and Katie said she'd rather see whoever was talking, so we re-cut them that way.

Re-cut five days after their notes

What we made

Everything came out of one day of filming, on Sunday 15 September 2024, and the edits went back and forth with them until late October.

  1. 21 clips

Leanne and Katie talking about the things their clients run into, from cash flow and paying HMRC to what to expect from a good accountant.

  2. Two full interviews

Leanne's and Katie's interviews in full, alongside the clips.

  3. Outtakes

Leanne asked for the bits that went wrong before we'd cut any of them, and when she saw them she said they showed a bit more of what they're like.

In their words

“Thanks so much for the photos and video clips you’ve sent over so far, we’re really pleased with them :)”

Katie Clarke, by email, October 2024
  1. “These are great and feels like we are going to have some great clips to use. I am pleased to have the outtakes as well as I feel like they show a bit more of ’us’!”

  2. “Love the content, Kevan - thanks so much!!”

Start a conversation

I think of a project like this as a way in to building a YouTube channel full of what you know, with films that are still doing their job years after they're made.

Whenever we make longer films, they're for your website and for sending to people directly, and most of all they're for YouTube.

Who's the client you'd most like to win over, the one who's never met you and doesn't know what you're like yet?

If you can picture them, that's where we'd begin on an Explore call. Or just email me at kevan@epiphanycontent.com.
