Orchard Employment Law

Jemma Fairclough-Haynes, Orchard Employment Law

Orchard Employment Law was based at a coworking space in Rochester when we filmed with Jemma that March.

From that one day of filming she had eighteen films by the end of April, some on the problems employers come to her with and some about how Orchard started.

Where she started

Jemma already had some videos when we spoke in February 2023, and I watched them before I wrote her a proposal.

In one of them the wall behind her said Dragon Co-working, so before we filmed anything I suggested she get an Orchard banner or a framed logo for the office shots.

She speaks at events and comes across well in a room, so the plan was to get that on camera, in the office and out around Rochester.

What working with us involved

  1. Strategy

The proposal I wrote her set out what the films were for and where they'd go first, which was YouTube and LinkedIn, and it suggested an interview about how Orchard began and a short introduction to what Orchard does. Both of those ended up in the finished set.

  2. Editing

I filmed her on two cameras, and when I edited the films I cut between the two angles using my best judgement and set up a caption template for her, so the films would look like they belonged together.

All drafts with her by 11 April 2023

What we made

Eighteen films from one day of filming, edited over the following month.

  1. Answers for employers

Jemma talking through the things employers ask her about, like paying bonuses, long-term absence and what happens at an employment tribunal.

  2. The story of Orchard

Why she started Orchard, how it began and what it does, from an interview on the day.

  3. Getting in touch

Two films on how to work with Orchard and the reasons to get in touch.

The films

Here are a few of Jemma's films. Seven of her explainers for employers went up on Orchard's YouTube channel between April and June 2023, about one a week, and they're still there now.

I think of a project like this as a way in to building a YouTube channel full of what you know, with films that are still doing their job years after they're made.

Whenever we make longer films, they're for your website and for sending to people directly, and most of all they're for YouTube.

What do your clients ask you about most, the questions you could answer in your sleep?

Write a few of them down before we speak on an Explore call, because those are often the best place to start. Or just email me at kevan@epiphanycontent.com.
